Trap ?

We are a firm of legal marketing experts and we have no qualms in saying we bought this domain as a “dropped domain”. As you may or may not know, a dropped domain is where a registered domain is not renewed by the original registrant, and it therefore becomes available to anyone to by.

We bought this domain as it has some useful historical inbound links, but we were also intrigued by the name and are still not entirely sure what the original registrants motives or intentions were. Perhaps they were saying that divorce solicitors get trapped in a career they don’t like ? We doubt it – whoever registered this domain initially was perhaps an individual with a bad experience of using a solicitor and he or she was trying to say that once solicitors get involved in a divorce, it exacerbates the dispute.

Working in the legal field ourselves, we genuinely see both sides of the story. In our view too many solicitors, whether divorce solicitors, family lawyers, conveyancers or other fields are simply not attuned to what clients want. On the other hand, it’s all too easy to blame lawyers in situations where there are almost inherently no real winners. The problem with litigation in particular, whether divorce or of any kind, is that the starting point is akin to visiting a dentist – you don’t want the pain, you don’t enjoy the experience and it invariably costs money. In a litigation situation, the positions of the parties all too easily becomes entrenched. Once money is spent and the battle has begun, it is difficult for either party to swallow their pride and back down or try to settle.

This is not to say there aren’t some solicitors who perhaps do not do enough to make it very clear to the client at the outset that once the process begins, a certain momentum develops which tends to be negative and expensive. An encouragement towards mediation, whilst not always appropriate, is helpful inĀ  perhaps somewhat reducing the perception of lawyers, most of whom do a great job and earn a fraction of the amount clients perceive they do.

For divorce related advice, you may find that Darlingtons solicitors offer a helpful, knowledgeable and efficient service which will hopefully dispel any concerns about the “divorce solicitor trap”.
